Westgate Open House on Thursday!

Art Appreciation

We would like to thank Mr. Murray and Mrs. Petrusonis for coming into our classroom last week to conduct a fun lesson about Classic Greek and Roman Architecture.    Using the information they learned about they learned, the students were required to built a column structure that could hold 20 lbs. of books using only 8 notecards and Scotch tape.     After some of the groups met the challenge, the students were then able to see if their structure could hold 100 books. Believe it or not, some of the group structures were able to hold this type of weight!    What a blast we had!  Enjoy the pictures.

RMHS Basketball Team Visits Westgate

Last Friday, the members of the Rolling Meadows Girls Basketball Team came to visit Westgate.   One member of the team, Jenny Vliet, was able to read aloud some books for our class.  Way back in the day, Jenny was actually student in Mrs. Hyneks' 2nd grade class, so she made her feel really old!  She is a Senior on the team and will be attending and playing basketball at St. Louis University next year.   Enjoy the pictures from her visit.
