Our Passion Driven Classroom

Taken from the book The Passion-Driven Classroom by Angela Maiers and Amy Sandvold, students in our classroom are given time throughout the school week to discover, research, and report upon their own passions for learning!

Once a week along with our GIFT Teacher Mrs. Murray, our class has the opportunity to explore a topic of their own choosing.   Students first brainstorm a list of topics that they are passionate about.   Next, each student comes up with a favorite passion that they would like to research.   Afterwards, the student poses an essential question about their passion that they would like to answer.   Each student is then responsible for researching and recording information that answers their essential question.   In the end, the students turn their passions into final presentations for the rest of the class to read and learn more about their passion.

Be sure to ask your child about their passion presentation and have them share their findings with you!  Many students in our class chose to record their presentation by recording their findings on their own designed webpage.    All access webpage information can be found stapled inside of your child's homework folder.

You can also take to following steps to view your child's passion page( if they created one):
1.  Go to:  http://students.weebly.com
2.  Username: (your child's name) followed by the word 3rd.  (ex.:  harry3rd)
3.  Password:  passion
